| 27 January 2016: happened to be looking out of the kitchen window and had the spectacle of a flotilla of 80+ Common Gulls flying low and in a leisurely fashion in small groups of 4-8, going in the general direction of Aldreth. I'm pretty sure that was the total count for this batch, but who knows what I miss when I m NOT staring out of the kitchen window! Jake |
| 27 January 2016: Dambank/Berryfen area. Female Marsh Harrier. 200+/- Fieldfares feeding in fields with some Redwings. Later viewed from Old Burial Ground new seat in honour of Freda Croft. It was her favourite place where she looked over North Fen to Sutton and watched the world go peacefully by. Today we could see possibly over a thousand Common Gulls sheltering from strong SW wind on grass fields in valley from Freda's seat. Also several hundred Fieldfares. PM & SD Other picture is what Freda could see towards Sutton. Freda's seat was erected by HCS from a kind donation by Roger and Miranda Pratt of the Hereward Antique Bookshop in the High St.    |
| 27 January 2016: Great White Egret now seen by Simon Stirrup, Colin Bidwell and David Jordan. So a safe confirmation. Today at 8.30 a.m. P.M. |
| 23 January 2016: Reliable report of Great White Egret in Church Fen Drain in company with Little Egret. PM Observer said one bird was much bigger than the other for comparison.will be followed up asap. |
| 23 January 2016: Just come back from a walk through Fairchild's Meadow and along the field margin up to the old Railway Track and come across a muntjac wandering along the field margin and then disappearing into the hedgerow. Sally MacEachern |

| 2 January 2016: Long Drove/Dambank (11.15-12.15): 120+ fieldfares, 1 redwing, 90+ linnets, 2 kestrels, 3 stonechats (1m), 2 green sandpipers, 2 buzzards. Barbara York. |
1 January 2016: A few sightings from Long Drove on 1st January – Little Egret 1, Marsh Harrier 1 female. No sign of any Stonechats. Happy New Year. Simon. |
29 December 2015: Some sightings from Long Drove, Aldreth on 29th December: Hen Harrier 1 male (hunting west), Green Sandpiper, Stonechat 1 pair, Corn Bunting 1 in song. Roe Deer 4. Simon.   |
23 December 2015: Long Drove. 2 pairs Stonechats, 30+/- Fieldfare, Yellowhammer. Goldfinches, Reed Buntings, 40-50 Lapwings. several hundred gulls large and small following plough and just standing around. 10 Stock Doves. 3 Corn Buntings. 2 Kestrels. Large flock of mixed Corvids. | 10 December 2015: House sparrows back this winter to the usual numbers, mostly on mixed seed feeders. I can count up to 10 at any one time. Still no Tree Sparrows, but it's probably a bit early for them. Jake 13-15 Wigeons seen on Hinton Reservoir this a.m. 2 Pochard diving on far side of water. Not able to photo them. PM.   |
| 8 December 2015: Three redpolls this morning, so a nice little flock in the vicinity. Lots of greenfinches (up to 12 at any one time), let's hope they stay healthy. Jake |
| 7 December 2015: I'm finally getting Redpolls in the garden, never more than two together, but plumage differences indicate that there are several in the vicinity. I know Barbara has been getting a few as well. Mine feed exclusively on nijer seed. No other birdy records of note, but I had a peacock butterfly briefly a couple of days ago sunning itself on the front wall of the house. Jake |
| 3 December 2015: We are starting to see quite a bit of a leucistic blackbird again. I am fairly sure it's the same one as last year (see photo posted by Barbara York in January last year). I expect Barbara has also seen it? . Sally Yes, I’m seeing it again for the last week. Also the male with the little bit of white has been on Duck Lane again for the last 2 weeks. Up to 6 Redpolls still most days plus Siskin sometimes. Regular Goldcrests coming to bathe- usually 2. The Coal Tit still around every day- very vocal but still hasn’t found a friend! Will keep you posted if I see anything unusual. Barbara York |

In drain to east 2 Green Sandpipers, 2 Ruffs. Gravel Pit Drove Pair Stonechat and10-12 Chaffinches. Long Drove .North end 1 Corn Bunting, pair Stonechats. Not a bad morning. PM&ID |
