| 8th to 23 February: Barbara Yorks thought she'd let you know what her frogs are up to so far. 8th February - 1st appearance back in the pond 11th February - approximately 20 male frogs 12th February - singing heard - at least 30 males 17th February - first females arriving 20th February - first spawn 23rd February - at least 104 frogs (including 8 females) and approximately 40 clumps of spawn. Mating activity on-going and females still arriving.  |

| 8th February North Fen. 300 app Lapwings. 150 Golden Plovers, Green Woodpecker. 3 Roe Deer. PM 6 February Peregrine immature. One was landing in fields several times early afternoon (13:20 13:40) along the track (old railway line) between Haddenham and the Old Station House (Wilburton)! Surprisingly the bird wasn't chasing pigeons or Fieldfares but seemed to be resting intermittently. David Nation. 4th February High Street Gallery Garden...Redpoll, 2 Coal Tits and several Long-tailed Tits. coming to feeders. Ann Biggs 3 February 2011 400 approx Whooper Swans at west end of parish. Long Drove/Claytons Drove 7 Corn Buntings 10-12 Linnets 30 Mute Swans (non breeders) Elsewhere: 3 Kestrel (1m,2f), told of male Peregrine by visiting birder. Also local farmer said a large Egret in Adventures Drain two days ago. Haddenham Sewage treatment works: 40 Pied Wagtails and 7-8 Meadow Pipits . (Paul Mason and Ian Dickerson) Grunty Fen. (David Nation, Wilburton Station) reports Goshawk flying from Wilburton into Haddenham Parish by Grunty Fen this day. |

| 31st JANUARY 2011: A ringing party from the Cambs bird club were ringing birds in the Aldreth road orchard on Sunday 31st January with the following results: Ringed 73 birds - very respectable. The highlights were: an impressive 33 Blackbirds 2 Coal Tits, the latter a species rarely caught around here! The totals were: Blackbird 31 (plus 2 retraps), Blue Tit 6 (plus 6 retraps), Chaffinch 4, Coal Tit 2, Fieldfare 9, Goldcrest 2 (plus 1 retrap), Great Spotted Woodpecker 1, Great Tit 3 (plus 1 retrap), Long-tailed Tit 1, Robin 1, Starling 1, Wren 1 Retraps means that those particular birds had been ringed in that place recently. Most of the blackbirds are from the continent possibly from Eastern Europe. Let us hope some are found later to confirm that. Fieldfares will certainly be from Eastern Europe. 19 JANUARY 2011: Eight Roe deer, pair Little Owls, Fieldfares, Redwing, SongThrush, Sparrowhawk in North Fen. 42 corn Buntings, 30 Linnets, 2-3 Barn Owls, and up to 4 Stonechats along Long Drove.
