29th May: Haddenham - Sutton old railway line and North Fen Drove. Many Common and Lesser Whitethroats present. Also Blackcaps but no Garden Warblers obvious today. No Turtle Doves singing even if they are here as in the past but its early yet. No damselflies obvious yet either. Wild plants include Spear Thistle, Cut-leaved Cranesbill, either Mignonette or Weld (have to see how it develops. PM&ID   |

| 26th May: Lakes Drove. Pair Bullfinches feeding family. A nice record, Common Whitethroats present. Dambank/Long Drove. Yellow Wagtails, Corn and Reed Buntings on breeding territories also but not showing very well because of strong but warm wind. Pennycress flowering bottom end Long Drove. Claytons Bridge 1 Red-eyed Damselfly on lily pads also 4 spot Chaser Dragonfly present. Swallows nesting under bridge. PM&ID |
| 22nd May: After a spell away I arrived back and opened the car door with a Painted Lady on Valerian to greet me. It was very faded so had probably just come from Francealready. PM |

5th May: Along New Cut drain bank. Aldreth to Dairyhouse Drove.Windy so birds keeping well down but I did have both Blackcap and Garden Warbler. 1 or 2 Chiffchaffs but calls not quite right. Have to check again but maybe its Spanish (Iberian) or similar. PM  |
4th May: Previously I sent in a picture of a female Hairy-footed flower bee. Included now is a male and you can see how different it is. When I first saw them I thought they were completely different species. The female lays eggs in a wall cavity and stores pollen and nectar in it for when the larvae hatch out. Paul Mason  |

30th April: Back Drove. near Galls Drove. Corn Bunting pair, Reed Bunting 2 pairs, Yellow wagtails 1 Pair, Pied Wagtail pair, Skylark pair, Linnet male, Yellowhammer 3 birds Common Whitethroat singing. Fox. Back Drove west end near Foulmire Drove. Several Skylarks singing and sparring, 2 Grey, 3 Red Partridges, 2 male Reed Buntings, Common Whitethroat 2 males 1 female seen. Roe Deer. Claytons Bridge to Graingers Drove. 2 Grey Partridge,4 Yellow Wagtails,3 Pied Wagtails,4 Wheatears all males,1 Common Buzzard on ground sat. Aldreth ponds 2 Chiffchaff. Blackcap. PM&ID  |

23rd April: Dam Bank Drove: Male Corn Bunting. Also there were a Little Grebe and 2 pairs of Gadwall. No time to look for Wheatears. Simon. |
| 22nd April: Haddenham/Aldreth fens - 11 Wheatears total today. 8 Claytons Bridge to Graingers Drove on land ridged ready to plant potatoes. 3 on Long Drove-Gravelpit Drove field. Corn Buntings in 3 places. Yellow Wagtails some singing, in 3 varying places within same area. 3 Common Buzzards. North Fen Several Corn and Reed Buntings singing and Skylarks prolific singing. 22nd April: Further photographs of selfheal and Storksbill showing red seedheads, and some White Dead-nettle which seems to be having a very good year.   |
21st April: Guppys Pond and spinney. 1 pair Great Crested Grebes again after several years absence 2 Kingfishers. Song Thrush beating hell out of snail on anvil. 1-2 Chiffchaffs. Marsh Marigolds west end of lake. Pr Sparrowhawks circling. Hinton Farm reservoir 3 pairs Little Grebes. 1 pair Tufted Ducks. Coots nesting on floating platforms put out to encourage terns! 2 pairs Mistle Thrushes, ! pair Song Thrush. 1 pair Common Buzzard. Hoghill Drove. 3 Yellow Wagtails. Long Drove only found 1 Wheatear but it was one of 2 found before as it had a very creamy plumage in both cases.. Corn Buntings and pair of Linnets in bramble bush. Cock Linnets in striking plumage. 13th April: Long Drove. 2 male Wheatears, 2 Yellow Wagtails, 6-8 Corn Buntings. Galls Drove North Fen 3 pairs Yellowhammers,2 pairs Reed Buntings. Spring has started! Back drove. Also a surprise find of several specimens of Storksbill in flower. Not only is this a very unusual plant in fens. Close by was early Pepperwort, less of a surprise but still early. PM ID&SD  |
| 11th April: Upon our arrival home after a few days down in Portsmouth, we found that ‘our’ swallows have arrived!! Sheila and Ian D. |
10th April: I originally assumed these were Masonry Bees but no they are female Hairy-footed Flower Bees. They are moving about between holes in an old wall. No males were seen here but I have seen one male (males are larger and khaki/brown colour and visit certain flowers in gardens only. If I can photo one it will be sent later. Interesting that not all bees using holes in walls are the same species. Do they make new holes or use old ones. don't know yet. PM  |
| 8th April: Even on a nice sunny day there was little about except the interesting sighting of 2 fem/juv Merlins together low in a lone bush until they twigged me and flew off low in different directions. Never seen two together before. PaulM |
6th April: Some interesting bees in garden today. Colourful Tawny Mining Bee. PM  |
1st April: On a gentle stroll up to and around Fairchilds Meadow, we saw min. 2 Goldcrest, Great tits, Blue tits, Chaffinch, Robins, Long-Tailed tits, Blackbirds, min. 2 Green Woodpeckers, many calling Chiffchaff, Peacock and Tortiseshell butterflies and also the Marsh Marigolds were putting on a good show. Cowslips and celandine were in the wildflower meadow and the trees and bushes all greening up beautifully. Photos are record shots only! Sheila and Ian Dickerson     |
